For years I struggled with infertility, PCOS, and Graves’ Disease. Through my journey towards better health, I studied and became a Certified Holistic Health Coach. Since my certification, I have had a beautiful baby boy and now am carrying my second baby. I’m healthy, have no annoying pregnancy symptoms (other than being tired!), and have been able to completely go off medication with no symptoms of my disease. It’s awesome, freeing, and exciting!
It was a long journey that brought me to the healthy person I am today. One major aspect of my health is having tools and making decisions that allow me to deal with stress. Knowing the the amount of stress I can handle and honoring those limits is important to me. It is equally important to honor a balance in life as priorities change.
As a holistic practitioner, I have worked with clients to create balance in all areas of life: career, spirituality, movement, relationships, and nutrition. These areas work together to create a healthy, whole person. You can eat all the broccoli and kale in the world and not be healthy if you are in a job that drains you or an abusive relationship!
Recently I’ve been trying to make the difficult decision to pare down my business as my belly grows rounder and my toddler is learning sentences, climbing, jumping from all things, and learning to do puzzles. It is all going so fast! I spent seven years dealing with infertility and this dream of being a mother and raising these children are a reality. A reality I love. I don’t want to miss it by being distracted by my other “baby” which is my business.
I love my work as a health coach: watching people discover new things about themselves, solve problems that they’ve dealt with for months, or even come out of a brain fog that they have lived in for years! I love teaching other people to take charge of their health and not have to resort to drugs or doctors to deal with the symptoms, but to find and deal with the root cause.
However, I also love being a mom. I love spending time with son. I love carrying this baby and feeling the tiny movements in my belly. I worked hard for this! For now, it’s time to honor my relationships with my family and honor the fact that owning a business in its early stages can be very stressful and draining. It’s time to tip the balance of relationships / career / spirituality / movement toward the relationships of my family. I have to trust that, through this decision, I will ultimately become stronger in my career, having learned to be present in the moment and to honor my own limits. I’ve decided to honor my own limits today by shifting my focus from business to family. During these years with littles, I do hope to build my blogging practice so I can continue to share my passion of living healthily and keep my brain active with teaching and learning.
Making decisions like this can be very difficult. I am so thankful for the love and support of my husband, my extended family, my friends, the WE Collective, and my co-workers here at Detail & Design to support me in living my dream of motherhood while still helping me feel like a human adult who is also important outside of my home!
