Emerald Doulas

Emerald Doulas is a Triangle-based full service birth and postpartum doula agency. They sought out Detail & Design before launching their business because they needed a unique logo that would establish their identity and also appeal to their ideal client.
Detail & Design achieved this unique logo by using a hand-lettered font. Hand-lettering provides a warm, human touch that just can’t be achieved with regular fonts; this personal touch was the perfect fit for an agency working with new babies and their families. Emerald Doulas liked their new logo so much that they also asked us to design the print materials for their new client folder, including wrap cards, postcards, business cards, and a new client welcome packet.

Amy Strunk Designs
website | copywriting
Amy Strunk Designs is a Chapel Hill-based landscape design firm with an extensive portfolio of landscape, garden, and floral design. The firm sought out Detail & Design because they needed a website and copywriting to display and describe their beautiful work.
Detail & Design worked with owner Amy Strunk to help her establish the four main services that she would offer. We then wrote engaging copy to describe each service and designed unique page layouts to highlight the gorgeous photographs of the firm’s work.

La Piana Italian Foods
e-commerce website | RECIPE PHOTOGRAPHY
Operating out of Raleigh, NC and Trento, Italy, this family-owned and operated business imports authentic Italian food from Italy to the US. La Piana sought out Detail & Design because their website was dated, and it did not have the e-commerce capabilities that would allow them to sell products online.
Detail & Design helped La Piana identify all of the products they wanted to sell and then created a page for each one of those products. We configured shipping and tax rates to simplify the sales process and added a store locator. We also partnered with Durham-based Burning Silver Photography for a two day photoshoot, where we carefully prepared their recipes and then took gorgeous photos of the plated food. The final product is a beautiful, highly functional e-commerce site that promotes the La Piana brand. Delizioso!

Thompson-Joinery
website | logo
Thompson Joinery is a Durham-based woodworking shop specializing in high-quality, custom carpentry, millwork, furniture making, casework, finish, and design. Though they are a successful company experiencing rapid growth, they did not have a website or logo. Owner Matt Thompson sought out Detail & Design for help in establishing the Thompson Joinery brand and building an an online gallery to showcase his work.
Detail & Design used a simple design for Thompson Joinery’s logo - a digitized version of Matt’s signature, which reflected the warm, clean lines used in his woodworking. Later, Matt turned this logo into a brand that Thompson Joinery uses as a signature on their final products. Because this was already a successful business, we created a portfolio-based website that served to showcase the beautiful work that Thompson Joinery has already done in both commercial and residential spaces throughout Durham.

9th Street Durham
website | logo | social media | copywriting | illustration
The Ninth Street Merchants Association is an organization comprised of merchants who own businesses on Durham’s historic Ninth Street. They sought out Detail & Design to help them create a branded presence for the street as a whole as well as for the individual businesses. The goal was for Durham’s Ninth Street to stand out as a go-to Durham destination.
Detail & Design started this project by creating a hand drawn logo that showcased the entire street. This logo anchors the Discover 9th Street website, which lists all businesses in the association, highlights events, and shares the history of the street (originally a Durham milltown!). Detail & Design also manages the association’s social media accounts and maintains their blog, which features a different merchant each month.

Southpoint Animal Hospital
Website | Copywriting | Photography
Southpoint Animal Hospital is a veterinary practice specializing in comprehensive, holistic care of cats and dogs. Though they are a popular practice with clients throughout the Triangle, they had a non-functional website that was not only difficult for clients to navigate, but nearly impossible for the Southpoint Animal Hospital staff to maintain. They asked Detail & Design for a complete website overhaul, including photography, copywriting, a new color palette ,multiple detailed client intake forms, and a new blog.
The finished Southpoint Animal Hospital website is clean, attractive, and highly functional. It not only helps clients to get necessary information, it includes several contact forms that allow the Southpoint Animal Hospital staff to gather valuable information from their clients. The copywriting and photography on this site serve to illustrate the love and compassion that these vets have for each of their patients.
